We had a fairly unseen old school car come into the shop for some maintainence

The customer wanted to get this great looking car freshened up before the nice weather started again. Overall it’s is in great condition, it needs attention in a few small spots to start.

I am thinking Air ride and a set of wider, black steel wheels?

Engine swaps and installs are a common type of modification when it comes to increasing a cars performance. Weather its upgrading/updating a factory installed engine, or installing an engine that was not native to your chassis, getting it assembled, installed and running properly is what we do.

2011 GT/CS 5.0 Mustang

Tuning cars that respond really well is a lot of fun. Its one thing to add a bit of timing and get 2-3rwhp its another matter all together when it drags out another 30 every time you make a change. The new 5.0’s when supercharged definitely fall into the later category. The car breaks the 400RWTQ number by 2500 RPM and averaged 475RWTQ all the way to 7300. Driving this thing is awesome. It idles like stock, and part throttles perfectly. A really terrific combo.

Datsun 510 field find

This 510 was rescued from a field by the new owner. He wanted to get the thing running again and get all the fluids changed and start getting a game plan for the future. Its definatly got a long way to go, but they are really cool little cars with massive potential. I really like the 4dr cars as well. This already had a built l20 and 5 speed trans swap when the new oner aquired it. We drained the fuel, changed the fluids and got it running. The brakes are next. At some point this car got a rear disc brake swap installed, but there is a ton of sorting that still needs to be done.

Mustangs, Corvette, Camaro, Subaru and Nissan.

The past 2 weeks have been pretty busy here at the shop, with a couple of exciting projects.
We had the Mustang Evolution for some preliminary tuning, the big v10 made some really good torque on the dyno, with some room to grow this thing should move pretty well around the track.

We also had a pretty neat customer track car come in for some upgrades, we did a clutch and light weight flywheel, ford racing cams, a boss intake and a few other little modifications. The car made decent horse power and should be a blast to track. The customer is going to shake down the car once the weather gets a little nicer around here and then upgrade the car from there accordingly.

We just recently had an 01 corvette z06 in for some tuning/troubleshooting, customer was having issues with the car passing emissions due to not having cats and a few other issues with it. In most instances we can tune the car well enough to pass emissions and pick up some extra horse power, however often times the only way around it is to put the cats or some high flow cats in. This car has a few underlying issues that needs to be sorted out before it goes on the dyno.

Like it is with all projects, they take time and usually need something before tuning. We sorted out a few little electrical gremlins and are on our way to get it on the dyno. Luke’s SR20 powered 240sx is extremely well put together. with the SR, a set of wide wheels and overfenders, it should be pretty quick.

The Big STI project is just about wrapped up, we are putting miles on the motor for break in and then it gets the final tune.

We have a pretty cool Subaru WRX STI project in the works right now. One of our good customers came in saying there was an internal engine noise, so we got to work getting him the details on a big build.

We have all the parts for a mid 400hp street car, there will be some room to grow if the customer decides that is not enough. In addition to more power adding in the benifit of AWD, this car should be fairly competitive on the street and the track.

Turbo Van!

So as we mentioned is a post before, we came across this 89 turbo van awhile back. We figured it would be cool as a shop hauler, parts runner and generaly a diversion from the winter weather.

After promptly over spinning and killing the factory Mitsubishi turbocharger, we scrounged up a slightly used GT3076 ball bearing turbo and went to work. Its a turbo that is waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy to much for this little sad 8v cylinder head. But that’s OK! We are going to rock it anyway.

102_3080Thats what we started with.

We started off building a nice 3″ magnaflow exhaust, tig welded and mandrel bent.

102_3101 102_3103 102_3100 102_3104 102_3105 102_3107Made the turbo fit the chassis.

102_3131 102_3132 102_3133 102_3138 102_3128 102_3130 102_3140 102_3141Built a decent front mount and plumbing.

102_3145 102_3144 102_3143 102_3142 102_3147Added water methanol, built a megasquirt board for it, wired the engine and got it running.

102_3201 102_3199 102_3225After that we lowered it, scrounged up some mostly round wheels, with mostly airtight tires and added some airbags to the rear so we could still over GVW the thing.

102_3223 102_3202So far its been great. Van made 268 FWHP and has been a solid usable shop rig.

69 Camaro LQ9 Turbo project.

Work continues on the Camaro. The engine is coming togeather and the parts and peices needed for the rest of the car are starting to show up.

The LS9 head gaskets and camshaft are installed along with the new lq9 rod and piston assemblies. Left is the oil pump, timing set and figureing out wich oil pan is best suited for the cradle.
