The 1969 Chevy Camaro featured in our chassis and suspension section from last week is awaiting its new powertrain. An LQ9 code 6 liter V8 from GM’s LS family is being used here; the engine has been completely gone through and will be turbocharged. Custom manifolds are currently being fabricated for this project with pictures to follow completion.
Sitting atop the V8 mill is a Holley EFI system for precise fuel metering.
Pictured here is the new flywheel and clutch assembly.
Here is the Muncie M22 4-speed transmission with a 921 bell housing from and early big block car that will be going in. The Muncie M21 is a close-ratio unit originally designed to be matched with GM 4 Series differentials. A close-ratio gearbox keeps shift points closer together, which keeps rpms up so that a driver can run through the gears and keep the engine in its power band so it performs in street racing or drag racing.
