Brakes, Springs, and things

You’ve put a lot into how much power your car can produce and how great it looks. But how is that power and style getting translated to the earth?

A wise saying is “Power is nothing without control”. No better statement than that for the world of custom vehicles. Consider no matter how big or small your ride is, your tires are the only part of your car that ideally comes in contact with the ground. Are they in good shape? Do they meet your speed and load rating needs? It is a sound idea to give your tires more than a second thought to make sure they will help you perform well for your driving style and your car’s output.

Another factor to consider is your brakes. Most stock setups are well designed and can hold up to most circumstances and upgrades. But when you have effectively doubled horsepower or done an extensive drivetrain swap you need to consider them to be upgraded as well. Disc brakes are the way to go for effective and controlled braking with minimal fade chance unlike drum brakes of the old automotive world. In fact; most cars today come factory with 4-wheel disc brakes due to their safe and reliable operation.

Last but not least is your suspension. If you are at all serious about your car becoming a potent performer or even a spirited daily driver; components such as sway bars, upgraded bushings, and  stiffer or more controlled shocks can take even a stock car to a new experience.
